Abstract

This 3rd of November, the United States of America is facing a presidential election like no other. A divided citizenship, racial tensions, violence and riots, and above all, a highly contagious virus which threatens the lives of citizens as well as the country’s economy. This unprecedented situation promises to be a pivotal moment for the history of the United States, and, as such, it deserves a comprehensive analysis. The present work offers said analysis, starting from the basic electoral procedures of the United States, going through the past elections and present candidates, Donald Trump and Joe Biden, and arriving at a discussion about the effect of the aforementioned issues on the polls.
